Project Overview

Vilantis partnered with PPI4Cities to create a sophisticated platform designed to promote Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) in cities throughout the Baltic Sea Region. The goal was to leverage digital tools and resources to streamline and enhance the adoption of innovative procurement practices, driving urban innovation and sustainability.

Problem Addressed

Before the introduction of the PPI4Cities platform, the adoption of innovative public procurement methods was limited due to outdated practices, lack of resources, and insufficient expertise within public sector entities. This limitation significantly hindered cities’ abilities to implement modern solutions to urban challenges, affecting overall efficiency and sustainability.

Solution Provided

Vilantis developed a comprehensive, user-friendly platform that includes several key functionalities aimed at addressing the identified challenges:

CityLab:

Designed to foster collaboration and co-creation among cities, citizens, educational institutions, NGOs, and SMEs. It provides a strong foundation for building local innovation ecosystems by encouraging active participation from these diverse stakeholders.

Best Practices Database:

Serves as a comprehensive repository of successful PPI projects. It offers valuable insights and inspiration for cities aiming to implement similar initiatives, featuring detailed case studies and project descriptions that facilitate effective knowledge transfer and learning.

Capacity-Building Materials:

These materials comprise gamified resources, interactive self-assessment tools, and comprehensive training modules, making the learning process engaging and practical. This ensures that public sector employees are well-equipped to implement PPI strategies effectively.
